Wisconsin Motorcyclist Killed by Alleged Drunk Driver
On behalf of Milwaukee personal injury attorney Ric Domnitz of Domnitz & Domnitz, S.C. posted in Motorcycle Accidents on Friday, September 20, 2013.
As anyone who regularly operates a motorcycle knows, there are a variety of risks that each rider faces, including hazardous road conditions and intoxicated or inattentive drivers. Sadly, it is not very uncommon to hear about a motorcycle accident in Milwaukee. To prevent these incidents, everyone on the road should be careful when driving.
Unfortunately, it was too late for one motorcycle rider who recently lost his life. The motorcyclist, who died after being flown to a nearby hospital following the crash, was accompanied on the motorcycle by a passenger who also sustained serious injuries. The passenger was listed in critical condition. This tragic crash was caused by a friend of the motorcyclist, who was following him.
The man who struck the motorcyclist has previous legal complications that involve alcohol and vehicles. After operating a vehicle with no driver’s license in 2010, he was arrested for drunk driving twice the following year. Following this accident, he was placed in the Sauk County jail and could be sentenced to prison for 52 years if he is found guilty. After alcohol was detected on the man’s breath, he was found to have a blood alcohol level of .211 and did not pass sobriety tests.
When someone is injured or killed in a motorcycle accident, it can result in medical bills, funeral costs and other expenses that families have difficulty paying. For anyone dealing with these challenges, talking to an experienced legal professional might be a good idea. Because motorcycle collisions occur too frequently, drivers should always be vigilant and obey laws.
